That shared connection with the Angels gives Sue and Wendy an immediate rapport … and plenty to laugh about.
What Does Angel Guidance Feel Like?
One of the questions at the heart of this episode is something many of us have wondered:
How can we recognize when the Angels are speaking to us?
Sue explains that guidance often carries what she calls “Of Course-ness.” Divine guidance can be surprisingly neutral—without the urgency, criticism, fear, or emotional charge that often accompanies our mental chatter. Something simply feels true.
Guidance can also show up as a spark of curiosity or energy that draws us toward a person, idea, question, or experience. And … we may not understand the reason for the nudge until after we follow it.
Sue also shares that there have been times when she has asked the Angels to “turn up the Obvious Knob” and make their guidance unmistakably clear. In one memorable experience, she turned around at a trade show and suddenly saw the entire room in black and white—except for one man, who appeared in color, so she went over and introduced herself.
But even wonderfully obvious guidance doesn’t necessarily reveal the entire path. Sometimes it simply illuminates the next person to meet, the next possibility to explore, or the next step in our own becoming.
That opens into a fascinating conversation about the difference between choosing what we desire and trying to control exactly how it must arrive. Through stories about dream cars, dating, money, and relationships, Sue and Wendy explore how our preferences can evolve right along with us. Something we once thought we wanted may no longer fit. An experience that doesn’t last forever can still have tremendous value. And something that once seemed impossible may become available only for us to discover that we are free to choose differently.
Let the Angels Help
Rather than trying to work out every detail ourselves, Sue offers a simple practice for inviting the Angels more fully into whatever we’re navigating. She calls it the Angel Delegation Statement:
“Thank you, Angels, for taking care of ___.”
We can fill in the blank with whatever is present for us. We can ask the Angels to take care of something we’re worried about, help us become ready for what’s next, or help us recognize the gifts within an experience we might otherwise judge. We don’t have to determine exactly how the answer should arrive.
Sue and Wendy also touch on returning to what Sue calls our “Original Factory Settings”—the open, curious, playful way we naturally experienced life before accumulating so many beliefs, expectations, rules, and old stories about who we’re supposed to be. The Angels can help us gently release that “gunk,” allowing more of who we truly are to emerge.
And perhaps one of the loveliest invitations from the entire conversation is also the simplest. We don’t always need a problem to solve or even a specific request. We can simply say:
“Angels, surprise and delight me today.”
Sue brings in a message from the Angels at the close of this conversation: The Angels remind us that wherever we are on our journey, whatever we have done or not done, their Love is unconditional. They are always with us. And the more we allow them to help, the more they can support us—and surprise and delight us along the way!
