Are You Arguing with Reality?

Calico cat complaining

“Arguing with reality” is a big theme this week, whether people are focused on workplace situations, family members, bodily symptoms, sports teams or pretty much anything else.

Whatever the situation may be, we are looking at it and concluding: Things shouldn’t be this way.

Yeah, But…

The Angels are not saying that we’re crazy … or that we’re wrong.

Our conclusions may be totally justifiable.

In fact, odds are we’ve come up with plenty of convincing arguments for why things should be different. We could cite chapter and verse. We could argue till we’re blue in the face.

But … whenever we argue with reality, reality always wins.

(I’m totally hearing the John Mellencamp song, “When I fight authority, authority always wins!”)

What’s the Alternative?

So, if reality always wins, what can we do? Are we supposed to look at whatever “should be different” and just be OK with it?

Well … in a word … yes.

It may take a minute. But I have to admit that I always feel better once I stop banging my head against the wall (or against my desk, LOL!).

The process, for me, usually starts with the mantra: It is what it is.

(This mantra has helped a lot of other people, too! The Angels and I talk about it in Chapters 58 and 59 of our book; these are the chapters called “Release Resistance” and “Accept What-Is.”)

The minute I start saying, “It is what it is,” I notice some tension draining out of my body. This simple sentence activates a sort of deep remembering, which notifies my nervous system that it can stop fighting. It’s OK to “stand down.”

Soon, it starts feeling easier to breathe. I start to loosen my “white knuckle death grip” on life. I remember that I don’t have to control everything “out there” to be OK “in here.”

Then What?

Once I’ve taken this very self-loving step, I can delegate whatever is troubling me to the Angels: Thank you, Angels, for taking care of ___.

This usually brings even more relief.

If you try this and don’t feel relief right away, no problem. Just play with the words you’re using—perhaps making them more and more general—until you do feel some relief. For instance, if you said, Thank you, Angels for taking care of my crazy boss who hates me and is probably going to fire me soon, that’s pretty darn specific, and odds are you didn’t feel any relief. (Actually, you probably felt worse!)

So, you could try saying something more general like: Thank you, Angels, for taking care of my boss.

Or you could go even more general, like: Thank you, Angels, for taking care of my work.

And … if I can’t seem to find relief when I’m focused on the specific area that’s bugging me, then I go super-duper general. Thank you, Angels, for taking care of everything always brings me relief because I know it’s True.

Can’t We Do Something?

And … at this point, our sweet, sweet minds still might want to do something about whatever is troubling us.

So, this is what the Angels and I recommend:

Send Love.

Yep, Love is always the answer! (What was the question?!🤣)

In other words: If you’ve been worried about a sick family member … or your own physical symptom … send Love to that person or that body part.

The Angels and I want to assure you: You don’t need to do anything special to send Love. Simply intend it, and the Angels will make it so.

And … the Angels and I promise: The moment you Send Love, you will feel better.

Why?

Because this “simple” act reconnects you with the Truth of Who-You-Are. You are a powerful aspect of the Divine. You were made with great Love … from Love. And when you Send Love, you are Being Love. And that is you being your higher self, right here, in physical form.

This, my dear, is how we Be the Change. This is how we co-create a world based in Divine Unconditional Love: through our lived daily experiences, including the uncomfortable ones that “cause” us to argue with reality … so that we can remember to Be Love for ourselves, first, and then Be Love in the world.
